What Food Chik does

Education is only one piece of the food environment.

Food Chik connects learning with implementation: helping children become curious about real food while helping the programs that serve them improve food experiences, test better options and strengthen local food connections.

🔎 Explore Food

Hands-on resources and workshops that help children find, taste, prepare and investigate food, including where it comes from and who grows or makes it.

🥕 Improve Food Programs

Practical support for organizations introducing healthier foods, testing products, gathering feedback and turning program goals into workable experiences.

🌾 Connect Local Food

Helping programs discover Manitoba producers and food businesses, understand procurement barriers and explore realistic pathways to bringing more local food into programming.

About Food Chik

Connecting children, programs and the food system.

Food Chik was created from a simple observation: healthier food environments require more than information. Children need meaningful experiences with food, and the organizations serving them need practical support to turn good intentions into everyday practice.

Founded by Boma, whose background spans agriculture, food systems, producer engagement and program development, Food Chik works at the intersection of food literacy, implementation and local food connection.

Learn about local food. Experience local food. Make it easier for local food to show up in the places children eat.
